Course Impact

This course was one of my favorites during my educational journey at Siena Heights. When I first received the list of books required for this course, I could not understand how Blade Runner or Brave New World were really going to fit into the educational outcomes. I’m sure that Professor Winstrom could have given us other more traditional reading on the topics we discussed throughout class, but the unique approach forced us to expand what was being asked of us in a more creative way, pushing beyond conventional learning. Each week, critical thinking skills were put to the test. Many of us were pushed into an uncomfortable corner of our minds while reading through Blade Runner and Brave New World, but it only allowed us to learn about ourselves and others at a raw level, as well as practice tolerance for those that perceived things differently than we may have initially. Great course!
